From Vegas to the Buckeye State for A Much-Needed Trip
Mike and I went back to our home state from Columbus to Cleveland to Champion for 10 days and it was a very necessary trip for me. Last time I was in Ohio, it was a sad time and I wanted new memories and to see people I haven’t been able to see in year because of the pandemic.
First stop was Columbus, Ohio and we saw so many more people than I thought we’d get to see. Columbus may have changed but it still had me feeling mad nostalgia, especially wandering around the Short North and Ohio State’s campus.
Next up, we headed to Tremont for a brief stay in Cleveland before we headed to Champion to see my mom’s side of the family. Tremont (and Clintonville in Columbus) are two places in Ohio I would absolutely consider living in if I ever wanted to move back to Ohio again (I don’t plan to ever). I MISS walking around neighborhoods and everything being green and lush. As much as I love living in Vegas, it does have its downsides as deserts usually do.
After spending time in Champion/Warren, it was time for the baby shower my mom planned! Originally when I booked my trip to Ohio in February, it was solely to see my family traveling to Ohio. My grandparents and aunt and uncle live in Florida and they were coming to see my mom and other aunt and cousins, so I wanted to join. Then a couple months later, I found out I was pregnant so my trip got extended because my mom wanted to do a baby shower, which was fine by me.
And the baby shower was so much fun! It’s overwhelming, in a good way, to be surrounded by so much love and support, especially because Mike and I live so far away. I’m just not used to that much attention and positivity. My baby is going to have such a strong support system when she arrives.
I have no clue when I’ll get to go back to Ohio again since the baby is coming this winter and traveling with a small baby is less than ideal. Hopefully, we can make it back in a year. Crossing my fingers and praying.
