Day 59: Refreshed

April 02, 2018 by Vanessa Young in The Writing

Write a poem about a time you really felt refreshed and renewed. Maybe it was a dip into a pool on a hot summer day, a drink of lemonade, or other situation that helped you relax and start again.

Her hands on my back, shifting the muscles like putty
I adjust my head a little to get more comfortable
Her hands were large, assured and deft
I could practically feel every knot melt away
Along with my stress.

As she works her way down my back, my mind wanders, happily
I daydream about laying in the sunshine
I daydream about napping with my dog
I daydream about falling asleep on my husband's chest
I daydream about my legs immersed in an infinity pool.

By the time she's done, I feel like my entire body has been replaced
With a body that functions like it's supposed to
There's no tension left in my shoulders, no hunch in my back
The knots have been eliminated by her hands.
