196. Neighborhood: Write about your favorite place in your neighborhood to visit and hang out at.

There’s this amazing trail called the Saint Rose Trail just outside my place. It’s my favorite route to run and it spans about 6 miles up and down St. Rose Parkway. The view of the snowcapped mountains is my view on either side of the trail and I get to see adorable jack rabbits along the trail. It’s my peaceful place.

197. Pirates: Write about a pirate ship.

The Black Ruby was a desperately beautiful ship, constructed entirely of dark cherry wood painted completely in black lacquer. The billowing sails were blood red with her skull sigil proudly displayed in the folds. At the bow, a screeching siren with tentacles for hair glared over the gathered crowd. The Black Ruby was a dangerous girl.

198. Interview: Write based on a recent interview you’ve read or seen on TV or heard on the radio.

Black folks are told we’re the racist ones for calling out racism and white supremacy at every turn. We’re called delusional, crazy, stupid, shit-stirrers, etc. All because we want you all to face up to a simple truth: we live in a racist country in a racist world. But you never believe us…until one of us gets attacked in the streets by MAGA boys with nooses. Then you believe us.

199. Hiding Spaces: Write about places you like to hide things at. What was a favorite hiding spot for you as a child playing hide-and-seek?

My favorite hiding spot to hide stuff when I was a kid was in the back of my closet under piles of clothes and the side of my bed underneath all of my stuffed animals, which of course I kept until I left for college. Only God can judge me!! Anyway, my dad didn’t like that I listened to “White People Music” aka rock music so I had to get very inventive as to where I hid all my CDs.

200. Extreme Makeover: Imagine how life might be different if you could change your hair color or clothing into something completely opposite from your current style.

Hmm.. well I change my hair color every other month for the most part. But as far as my style goes? I wonder what life would be like if I wore cutesy pink outfits like Lexi and just really leaned into the uber feminine, super pink, adorable look instead of my normal punk/goth/witch fusion. I’d imagine I would be treated a lot more delicately if I presented myself in such a “girly” way. But black women aren’t inherently seen as “girly” anyway, so who knows!
