Day 151: Grass is Greener

August 16, 2018 by Vanessa Young in The Writing

Write about switching the place with someone or going to where it seems the “grass is greener”.

"I want to be a goddamn queen for real. I want to rule over a kingdom and bring peace and prosperity to all the lands in my domain," I said, loudly and proudly.

The genie smiled, sweetly and granted me my wish.

It took some time to adjust to my new life, being a newly coronated queen and all. And I quickly realized ruling over a kingdom was more than just saying commands and expecting them to happen.

To be a good queen, I had to first learn patience and being a good listener. Because as it turns out, being a queen requires you to listen to A LOT of people complaining.

But I shouldn't be the one complaining. Sometimes all someone needs is a shoulder to cry on or an ear to bend. Even if it's the queen of an entire kingdom.

It's definitely not all peeled grapes and palm frond fans but would I go back to my old life?

Yeah, I would actually.
