Day 88: Natural Wonders of the World
Choose one of the natural wonders of the world. Write about it.
They buried the terrorists at the base of the Great Pyramid of Giza. One of them was still breathing but she didn't care. He can choke on sand. She looked behind her and saw the assorted, bedraggled wives, mothers and daughters from the village she was staying at, gathering up the terrorists' supplies.
She looked over the horizon and saw smoke in the distance. They would be coming for them. They needed to get out of sight.
"Ladies, we have to get inside. Grab what you can and let's get moving," she said, loudly.
"Inside?" A little girl asked, pointing to the pyramid.
She nodded. They followed her, apprehensively into the bowels of the pyramid. No one had set foot in them in over 200 years. People say they were haunted but she didn't believe in ghosts.
They slowly made their way through the winding tunnels. It reeked of death and dust.
"Let's go in as deep as we can and set up shelter. We need to make sure they won't be able to detect us if they happen to come in here," she said, quietly. It was silly. There was no need for silence, nothing was in here except the dead.
A wail echoed through the tunnels, stopping the refugees in their path.
"Just...wind," she said, voice quivering. She needed to get it together. These women were depending on her. Besides, there was no such thing as ghosts.
At least she hoped not.
