Day 85: A Day In The Life
Write about your daily habits and routine.
As I've written about before, I have been freelancing full-time since August of 2017. It has been rewarding, fulfilling, terrifying, frustrating, exhilarating and above all, a really awesome way for me to strengthen my skills and spread my wings without hindering my own creativity.
Adjusting to working at home full-time took awhile. I've been working in an office with other people since before college; it was quite the environmental whiplash. I first had to shake the feeling that I wasn't doing anything simply because I wasn't getting up, getting ready and commuting somewhere every day.
Usually my days begin with a long 4-5 mile walk/run to get me jump started for the day. I love running through downtown Columbus, all the way from our apartment in the Riversouth District through the Arena District into Goodale Park then I make it all the way to North Bank park and finish up along the Scioto River, sometimes into the woods that lead to the Brewery District. I'm really going to miss this route when we move to Vegas this summer.
I head back to my apartment, take my dog out, feed her and then shower. Most of the time, the hubby is still passed out. He works in the evenings mostly, so we have very different schedules. Once I'm done showering, I make myself a cup of tea and start my day off. I have a few clients that I work with so I have to keep myself organized with AND CO. I go through my to-do list and make my priorities for the day.
Now that being said, all of my clients are small businesses/one-person businesses so stuff will sometimes get thrown at me that needs to get done fairly quickly and sometimes that'll blow up my whole day. Usually I let them know other projects or campaigns they have me working on could get a slight delay, but I never really run into this issue a whole lot.
Eventually I eat lunch and go with my husband for a walk with our dog and then I come back get more work finished and try to be done by 4 or 4:30 most days. I like to keep myself on a normal work day schedule (from 9-4); it gives me a sense of normalcy.
So now you've read all about my boring life! I hope it was thrilling 😎
