Day 82: Book Inspired

May 03, 2018 by Vanessa Young in The Writing

Think of your favorite book. Now write a poem that sums up the entire story in 10 lines.

Violence and terror reach a fever pitch in this 2174 Zimbabwe
The kids must be kept safe, secure and bored as hell
They escape to achieve glory, only to be taken by the enemy
Panicked, the General calls on The Ear, The Eye and The Arm, mutant detectives
The She-Elephant has an unsavory plan to sell the kids but alas!
These kids are tricky and move from one haven to the next
Searching for a way back home, they are taken by the Masks to be sacrificed
The Arm, possessed by an ancient spirit, tracks the lost the children
The detectives clash with the Masks and all hell breaks loose
With the Big-Head Mask destroyed, the gang is defeated and the kids find their glory.

“Names, characters, businesses, places, events, locales, and incidents are either the products of the author’s imagination or used in a fictitious manner. Any resemblance to actual persons, living or dead, or actual events is purely coincidental.”
