Day 69: Silly Sports
Write about an extreme or silly sport. If none inspire you, make up the rules for your own game.
Thrill seekers come to this cliff every day, to get that feeling of utter weightlessness before they plunge into the waters below. She often wondered if some of those people wanted to die. Even just a tiny part of them...
"Kel, let's GO!" Her sister yelled. Her team was suiting up for the game. All clad in bright blue, goggles firmly attached to their heads. Every year, they came out here to compete in the silliest (dumbest) game ever.
World's Best Cliff Diver went to Kel's ex last year. She was determined to beat him this year. She looked over at the yellow and red teams, getting their stuff on. The yellow team was filled with new people, amateurs. The red team was their primary competition, filled with seasoned veterans of this cliff diving game.
"Alright, people, save the fancy flips and tricks for the style portion of the program," Kel's sister, Mara, commanded to the gathered Team Blue members. Everyone nodded. "We let the Red team win every damn year. Yes, I said LET, we allow them to win. But NOT this year!"
Team Blue let out a cheer and got in their positions as the other teams joined them near the cliff. The stupid game was getting more and more popular every year so the audience size kept growing. There were at least 60-70 people with their smartphones out and taking videos and chatting excitedly.
"Man, this is some crazy white people shit," Kel heard an audience member said. His friends laughed and she smirked.
Time to jump.
