Day 48: The Stars
Take inspiration from a night sky.
Continuation of The Rocket Ship
Okay, guys. I made it. I'm down here on a planet. They're calling it SZN-341 and I got to join the exploration! The good news is, I'm getting to see so many cool things on this planet.
The bad news? The above statement is a lie. There is nothing about this planet that's cool. Except for the sky.
It's been a few months since we left Earth and I finally convinced the captain to let me go down on the next exploration. I was going to stir fucking crazy on that stupid ship with those stupid people. Cheaters got exposed, which caused a whole hoopla. I'm ignoring the fact that I I accidentally exposed it one "night" when I was drunk off of wine coolers. Don't judge me, life on a spaceship is BORING.
Deep breaths.
Anyway, I got to join the explorers on SZN-341. (I think I finally won this because the non-explorers want to kill me because all I do is bitch about being bored. But I get to walk on another planet, so who really won here?) It's a mostly desert planet with a few patches of jungle areas scattered around like an oasis back on Earth. No sentient life, as far as we can tell. The archaeology team has set up camp and have been digging around for the past few days. I was left to my own devices.
I was super excited to be down here but there's not a whole lot to write about. But there's also no way I'll be complaining because then they'd never let me down again.
But back to the night sky.
Whoa. Wow. What a fucking beauty.
Because of the way the atmosphere interacts with the light from the stars, it constantly looks like every star is a shooting star, like they're racing each other across the sky. This planet exists in a smaller solar system than ours, with only 3 planets orbiting their tiny white sun.
During the day, it's hot as hell and blindingly bright but at night? Not only are the stars in motion but the "moons" are actually the other two planets orbiting the sun. I think they're gas giants and we can't explore those but they look so cool at night. Especially the one with the 4 massive rings around it.
I've taken to sleeping all day just to stay up at night and watch the sky. I wish more than anything that I could draw or paint or hell, even doodle. But the best I can do is take some amazing photographs and document everything I see. I love this planet at night.
