Day 23: Sugar
Write something so sweet, it makes your teeth hurt.
Have you ever met someone and kind of wrote them off immediately but a few short months later, it turns out your initial reaction was completely wrong and you're in love with them? Have you ever woken up in the middle of the night and looked over at this same someone and been like "Oh my goodness, I married this person!!!"? Have you ever laughed so hard with someone and realized this is what the rest of your life is going to be?
It's been two and a half years and the honeymoon phase still isn't over.
I love my husband even more now than I did when we got married. And I'll probably love him even more in a few years. We've been through all kinds of hell together and we've stuck by each other like two magnets that are never coming apart.
He's the kind of person who would never ask you to change who you are so he can feel more comfortable around you. He either likes you or he doesn't. He's the kind of person that makes YOU want to be a better version of yourself. He's the kind of person you do silly things around because his laugh is contagious. He's the kind of person whose unbridled enthusiasm can make you care about things you would otherwise ignore.
He is a fierce advocate for gender equality, an outspoken anti-racist who aims to topple white supremacy using his own white male privilege and has love for people from all over, everywhere. He volunteers his time to make sure that WE show up for the 2018 midterm elections and oust the incompetence that has infected our government.
My husband is as close to perfect as you can get and I love him so damn much. I hope and pray that every person who is out there looking for their better half finds them. And for those who are perfectly content being single, I hope you find a friend like Mike Young.
