Day 135: Ladders

Write a story or poem that uses ladders as a symbol.

It always seems endless, you know? That never-ending climb from the bottom to the top. It feels like I've been climbing my entire life only to end up going nowhere.

When we get to the top of the ladder, there's always a glass partition separating us from the opportunities that wait just on the other side. But we're not allowed to climb that high.

So we just kind of crowd around at the top, occasionally pushing someone off to make more room. Up above, they laugh, looking at us through the glass partition.

Those that fell or were pushed off, either get back up and start climbing or wallow in the depths below. Sometimes the ones still on the ladder help, sometimes they don't.

I got tired of climbing the ladder, so I brought a step stool and am figuring it out on my own. When the glass ceiling won't budge, find a way around it or break it open for everyone else.
