Day 120: My Point of View
Write in the first person point of view.
The sun burns right through me as I step outside into the unforgiving heat. I look out in front of me and see a vast mountain range on one side and a sizzling desert on the other.
I grip my keys and lock my front door. I'm going exploring. There was something out there, something beckoning me. I'm going to found out what. I need answers. I also need to sleep again.
I secured my backpack to my body and set off towards the mountains. My boots were strapped tight around my ankles. Thankfully I had broken them in months ago. I have been prepping for this moment for awhile. The call kept getting stronger and stronger.
The wind was light but cool. I was already dripping in sweat. I took a generous sip of my ice water and moved into the shadows of the mountain. It was instantly 15 degrees cooler. I walked in the mountain's shadow along the relatively smooth path for a couple hours without needing to stop. I encountered a few people here and there hiking. I didn't speak to them. I had a mission.
The call was stronger the further up the mountain I went. It felt almost like a song or a hymn. Soon it grew into an entire choir the more I walked.
Pretty soon I stopped seeing anyone at all. The sun was setting. I should probably settle down for the night soon and get some sleep.
But I couldn't.
The call was so loud, it was cacophonous. Banging around in my head like a marching band. But I couldn't just go wandering around in the wilderness at night.
That's exactly what I did.
They'll probably never find me.
