Day 80: Ode to Strangers

Photo by Clem Onojeghuo on Unsplash

Go people watching and write an ode to a stranger you see on the street.

Feet swinging lightly, ass firmly planted on the metal bar stool
Best friend at my side, we talk about random shit
Two people on their bikes pass by, noticed them immediately
The woman had bright, electric blue short hair under a beanie
The man had a face tattoo that covered most of his face and
Those gross "locs" that happens to white people's hair when it gets matted
My friend and I chuckle at the absurdity of the face tattoo
We hope he's happy.

A young couple stroll by with their adorable fluffy dogs
A group of women giggle loudly off to the side planning their next gathering
The bugs are extra attracted to my friend's bright yellow skirt, I think to myself
As I shake off a spider from her leg
I look up and BOOM there's a Clark Kent-look-a-like
I say as much to her and she looks and affirms with a loud, "Superman!"
The first margarita kicks in.

We observe as a man across the street digs through a trash can
Filled with clothing that runners and their families left behind after the marathon
A man and his adorable girlfriend (wife perhaps?) get into his Ford pickup truck
With the license plate that says "FORSCHE."
Gotta love Columbus and its people.
