Day 20: Missed Connections

If you go to Craigslist, there is a “Missed Connections” section where you can find some interesting story lines to inspire your writing.

He hit "Submit" and then just sat there. He doesn't know how long he sat there, staring at the submission screen. He wasn't sure what he was expecting. There wasn't going to be an instant response.

This was his last shot, really. He tried everything. He tried the obvious options: calling, emailing, writing letters, texting, tweeting, whatever. But it was like she disappeared off the face of the earth. After she moved out, she blocked him on everything and her friends weren't giving him any straight answers.

The last words he ever said to her was "Get the fuck out of my face and out of my life, you evil bitch."

So...it made some sense why she obliged his request.

But he knew he had overreacted to the situation. Her betrayal was a result of his own stupid bullshit and he lashed out at her first, when he should've taken a step back to think.

He was exhausted. He wanted to talk this out, he wanted to figure what happened, where they went wrong. He wasn't completely to blame. She still did what she did but he was less angry about it now than when she told him.

How could a person just completely disappear like this? In this day and age, where everyone posts where they are, when they are, who they're with, every single day and slap a filter on it. How could she be this hard to find?

He looked down at his phone, itching to call her mom again. But she wasn't answering either. No one would tell him where she'd gone or how to get in touch with her.

So this Craigslist post was his last resort, his last-ditch effort to get her to talk to him.

She probably won't even see it.

Editor's Note: The Missed Connections on Craiglist are some the creepiest, weirdest shit I have ever read. I had to take a shower after reading some of them. I went through a lot to get to the perfect one. Where's my wine?
