Day 173: Silver Lining

Write about the good that happens in a bad situation.

Sometimes it’s hard for me to look at bad things and see the silver linings. Because it feels like forced naivete and I hate that. Am I pessimist at heart? I try not to be. When bad things happen to me, it can sometimes feel like the world is coming to an end. I’m trying to work on that.

Recently a bad situation happened and I had a mental breakdown. It was so bad, I sat in the dark of the guestroom bathroom crying for a good 30 minutes. Then I grabbed a notebook and started writing down every bad thing I think about myself and then once I was done with that, I turned a new sheet over and wrote a good thing to counterpoint every bad thing I wrote.

Now I’m not sure if this counts a “silver lining” but I felt immensely better the next day. And since then I haven’t been letting my stress and anxiety dip into depression. I’ve been feeling more proactive and taking things day by day. Sometimes looking at yourself and how YOU react to things and fixing or changing that is all that matters.

Food for thought.
